Speaker: Dr. Hugo De Clerck
Biography: Hugo De ClerckHugo De Clerck is a graduate of the Rijksuniversiteit Gent’s orthodontic program, he received his PhD in 1986 and he maintains a private practice in Brussels. He has been Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Orthodontics at the Université Catholique de Louvain from 1989 to 2006. Currently he is Adjunct Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a former President of the Belgian Orthodontic Society and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. His main research interests are in skeletal anchorage, biomechanics and orthopedics. He lectured extensively on these topics throughout the world.
Lecture Topics: Lecture 1: Non-compliance upper molar distalization.
Lecture 2: Molar distalization: en masse or sliding mechanics? Vertical control and transverse changes.
Lecture 3: Surgical protocol. Complications: how to avoid and how to handle.
Lecture 4: Class III orthopedics: timing, surgery, loading protocol, indications and limitations.
Lecture 5: Outcome of Class III orthopedics: skeletal, dento-alveolar and soft tissue changes.
Lecture 6: Comparison face mask-bone anchored orthopedics. Fixed appliance and long-term retention protocol after orthopedics.
